Blog 2: Inspiring artists blogs -Photography

Blogging for me as an artist and photographer is a new thing, but so far so good!

Over the last couple of years I have enjoyed following and reading other artists’ blogs. Blogs for me have been a visual, informative way of inspiring myself in my own work, allowing blog viewers to interact in conversation and broaden awareness of new bodies of work via blogging.

Providing my favourite artist blogs was no easy task, trust me!

Kyle lgarashi, is a photographer blogger. His blogs are simple and down to the point of what he is producing. One thing I find rather helpful with his blog is that he provides information on camera, film and even settings. This is very beneficial to know as a photographer. Most of his work is street photography and documentary.

Second blogger, Jeremy Cowart primarily uses his blogs to promote or inform viewers of his projects. Usually his work is either commercial, art based or just honest playing around photography. This would no doubt open doors for new opportunities in this field of work.

Lauren Rabbit’s blog is a tad out of date, but; Lauren’s way of communicating shows another form of broadcasting, other than the norm usually seen. I find it rather refreshing seeing a blogger use poetry and story telling to entice viewers, working in with her artistic photography style.

Another example of promoting work using blogging would be Peter Coulson. His blog comprises of two elements; one being images and the other being information on corresponding aspects used to achieve that particular work. This has the potential to be educational and inspiring for studio photographers, who want to achieve similar results in their own work.

Last of all, my absolute favourite: The very talented Shae De Tar. Shae’s blog is full of information based around her new work, things that inspire her, videos, you name it. It gives a real inside view into her life as a photographer and artist, inspiring others and people like me.
